If you didn’t get one of his flyers at the recent HempCon 2010, then you may have seen an item about the NJWeedman at TMZ, CBS, or some other media outlets in reference to his Obama Party, scheduled for this Saturday, March 6. With the “Obama One Year in Office Celebration” bash, NJWeedman aims to celebrate the “2010 Reefer Revolution.”

According to his website, Ed Forchion (aka “NJWeedman”) is a New Jersey native whose advocacy for the right to legally smoke marijuana has bestowed him with a certain cult status. Variously describing himself as a “visionary,” “freedom fighter,” and “Rastafarian rebel,” NJWeedman founded the Legalize Marijuana Party, and emphasizes the spiritual and religious use of marijuana. NJWeedman’s storied past includes campaigning for Governor, Senator, and the NJ State Congress. He’s also a former truck driver who did prison time for pot-related charges.

Since 2008, NJWeedman has lived in California, where he now has his own medical marijuana dispensary – Liberty Bell Temple — on Hollywood Boulevard.

We might be too busy to attend NJWeedman’s party this weekend, but if you happen to make it there, please give us your report! Send emails to gena@lajemm.com.

One Response to “Who is the New Jersey Weedman?”
